  1. Where can I park?

Parking lots at various Developments are available for residents and non-residents. Please visit the Find a Parking Lot page for locations.

  2. What is the difference between reserved and non-reserved parking?

If you have a space at a reserved lot, you must park in your assigned space. Parking at non-reserved lots is on a first-come, first served basis; you may park anywhere in your assigned lot.

  3. Why does my parking permit expire on April 30th if it has not been 12 months from the day I purchased it?

The term for parking permits is May 1st through April 30th of the following year. All parking permits for the current term expire on April 30th, regardless of when you received your permit. Please note there is no pro-ration of fees for applicants who apply and receive a permit after May 1st. NYCHA does not grant refunds of parking fees after the issuance of a Parking Permit.

  4. Who is responsible for maintenance issues at the parking facility where I park?

LAZ Parking does not handle the physical aspects or maintenance of the parking facilities ( i.e. lighting, striping, garbage, drainage, issues with locks ). Any questions relating to the physical conditions of the lot should be directed to the site's designated NYCHA Property Manager.

  5. What types of parking facilities are available?

Please visit the Parking Permits page for information and instructions on how to apply for a permit.

  6. How do I apply for a parking permit?

Please visit the Parking Permits page for information and instructions on how to apply for a permit.

  7. I know someone who no longer uses their NYCHA parking permit. Can I use his/her parking permit?

No; parking permits are registered for a single vehicle. If you are using a parking permit that is not attached to the vehicle that was registered for said permit, you are in violation of the NYCHA Parking Rules.

  8. What should I do if my permit is lost, stolen, or damaged?

You should apply for a replacement permit. Please submit an application for a replacement permit. See the Parking Permits page for more details.

  9. What do I do if someone is parked in my reserved space?

During business hours (Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM), contact NYCHA Property Management, which is authorized to initiate the towing of unauthorized vehicles. After hours, please contact LAZ’s Unauthorized Vehicle Line at (212) 967-4875 and provide the name of the development, lot and space number, a description of the vehicle, and license plate number. If a representative is unavailable, please leave a message with the details listed above. LAZ hopes to respond to inquiries within 48 hrs. However, call volume may affect response times.

  10. How do I appeal a parking citation/tow?

Please send written correspondence to LAZ Parking. Please see the Contact Us page for mailing information.

  11. What are the consequences of ignoring violations/citation notices?

Ignoring violations results in the towing of your vehicle and your privilege to park at NYCHA parking facilities may be revoked.

  12. May I apply to park in a surface lot handicapped space as long as I have a state issued blue handicapped hangtag or license plate?

Yes, please register your handicapped status when applying for the parking permit. Please see the Parking Permits page for more details on how to apply for a permit.

  13. What should I do if my vehicle is damaged at a NYCHA lot (collisions, potholes, etc.)?

Parkers park at their own risk at NYCHA parking lots.

  14. How do NYCHA employees obtain a permit?

NYCHA employees can fill out employee applications and obtain parking permits. Employee permits are valid throughout the borough that the employee is employed in.

  17. My application was denied due to my household’s outstanding rent arrears. How can I obtain a resident parking permit?

If your application is denied due to outstanding rent arrears, once the household pays the arrears in full or enters into a payment plan for the full balance of arrears owed, you will be able to submit a new application, as long as the application window is still open. This will be treated as a new application, and you will not retain your previous parking spot or place on the waitlist. Parking permits will continue to be issued based on availability.
